{"id":1195,"date":"2010-09-26T22:14:17","date_gmt":"2010-09-26T19:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/privacy.cyber-rights.org.tr\/?p=1195"},"modified":"2010-09-26T22:14:20","modified_gmt":"2010-09-26T19:14:20","slug":"turkish-telecommunications-head-faces-three-years-for-not-blocking-website-hurriyet-daily-news-and-economic-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/privacy.cyber-rights.org.tr\/?p=1195","title":{"rendered":"Turkish telecommunications head faces three years for not blocking website &#8211; Hurriyet Daily News and Economic Review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hurriyetdailynews.com\/n.php?n=tib-head-demanded-three-years-2010-09-26\">Turkish telecommunications head faces three years for not blocking website &#8211; Hurriyet Daily News and Economic Review<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sunday, September 26, 2010<br \/>\nISTANBUL \u2013 Daily news with wires<\/p>\n<p>The head of the Telecommunication Transmission Directorate, or T\u0130B, is facing one to three years in prison for not halting access to a website that claimed the main opposition party\u2019s leader is a member of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers\u2019 Party, or PKK, the daily H\u00fcrriyet reported Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>T\u0130B head Fethi \u015eim\u015fek was accused of not applying a court order to halt access to the page of a group on the communication portal Facebook titled, \u2018K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu is a PKK member.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu had sued to stop the access to the group and its page, private news site NTVMSNBC reported. <\/p>\n<p>After the court\u2019s conclusion that the page should not be accessed, T\u0130B informed the prosecutor\u2019s office that it was impossible under the law for T\u0130B to apply the decision.
